Project goal:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of the project was to support the development of a strategy for the city of Kutaisi to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050 and increase public engagement in this process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Main activities implemented within the project:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Experts' work on the Kutaisi strategy:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the framework of the project, experts were involved in creating a strategy for the transition to 100% renewable energy for the city of Kutaisi. They held meetings and consultations with representatives of the city hall and local active society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Results:<\/strong> More than 20 meetings were held (individual and group level). As a result of the meetings, a strategic program and action plan were agreed upon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Strategy scenario:<\/strong> The scenario includes studies of wind and solar energy potential in Kutaisi, recommendations for environmentally friendly construction materials, and descriptions of various alternative scenarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strategy was discussed by specialists and experts, who positively assessed the document and suggested sharing it with other cities as an important example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Round tables:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the framework of the project, round tables of various scales were held, in which representatives of local government, civil society organizations, and youth participated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Goal:<\/strong> Raising awareness among participants about the need for transformation and possible alternative solutions to stop climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Results:<\/strong> Over 100 local activities were organized by the roundtable participants in the Imereti region (12 municipalities, 800,000 inhabitants), including training, tree planting, and area clean-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Eco-Camps:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the initial plan of the project, one camp was to be held for 30 young people, however, the organizers were able to organize three eco-camps for 60 participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 First camp:<\/strong> For camp leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Second and third camps:<\/strong> For young people of different ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Results:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Participants learned about issues related to climate change, the use of renewable energy, and climate activism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Camp participants planned a global march in Kutaisi, where more than 1,200 people participated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. March in Kutaisi:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The march took place in Kutaisi, in the city center, where more than 1,200 people came out to support the fight against climate change. The main demands of the march:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Paying more attention to climate change issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Adopt a strategy to transition to 100% renewable energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Creation of the city's environmental protection strategy, which was created shortly after the march.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
