The project aims to encourage and engage local government representatives in active work on integration issues for foreigners legally residing in Georgia. The project also contributes to improving the legal status of foreigners residing in Georgia.

Main project activities:

1. Meetings with foreign students and representatives of the local community:

Introductory meetings were held with foreign students living in Kutaisi, representatives of NGOs and universities, where participants were provided with information about the goals and objectives of the project.

• At the meeting, foreign students spoke about the challenges and needs at the local level.

2. Integration Platform Sessions:

The second sessions of the Integration Platform were held in the Batumi and Kutaisi City Halls, with the participation of:

• Representatives of the integration working groups of the city halls;

• Foreign initiative groups and members of diasporas;

• Representatives of local educational institutions and non-governmental organizations.

The meetings determined integration action plans, details of the memorandum of understanding, and the schedule of the next meetings.

3. Trainings and Seminars:

Various thematic trainings and seminars were held within the project, which helped participants raise awareness on immigration issues.

Participants:

The project involves both foreign students and representatives of local organizations and universities.

Project Duration:

The project is implemented with the financial support of the STREAMinG a long-term program to strengthen the impact of migration in Georgia.

The project is being implemented:

• By the “Migration Center” and

• By the Research-Intellectual Club “Dialogue of Generations” (RICDOG). .

Financial support for the project is provided by:

European Union;

Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

The project is organized by the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). .

Social Impact:

The project contributed to:

• Strengthening cooperation between local government representatives and foreigners;

• Activation of integration processes;

• Better protection of the rights and interests of foreigners.
