Nugzar Kokhreidze on the program “Afternoon in Kutaisi” — on migration issues

Nugzar Kokhreidze, Chairperson and Co-founder of RICDOG, was invited to the program “Afternoon in Kutaisi” on Mega TV, where he spoke about migration issues.

The program covered the following topics:

• What are the main factors that drive migration,
• How can the migration process be managed by the state and public institutions,
• What types of challenges does Georgia face as a country of origin, transit, and destination,
• and how these challenges can be addressed or prevented through effective strategies and policies.

Nugzar Kokhreidze particularly emphasized the circumstances that require a complex and multi-layered approach to migration in Georgia — including economic conditions, access to education, labor market opportunities, and demographic characteristics.

He also shared his views on how independent research, youth initiatives, and civil society engagement can contribute to building more sustainable and long-term approaches to migration.

For reference: Nugzar Kokhreidze is the Founder and Chairperson of the Research-Intellectual Club “Dialogue of Generations” (RICDOG), a researcher and activist in the fields of climate change and human rights. He is also a board member of CAN EECCA (Climate Action Network – Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia) and an active participant in numerous international platforms.

Nugzar has many years of experience participating in global climate negotiations and strengthening civil society. He actively contributes to the empowerment of CSOs, the promotion of citizen engagement in decision-making processes, the development of environmental policies, and the advancement of social justice — both at the local and international levels.

His professional interests include issues of migration, climate, environmental protection, and civic engagement. Notably, he has been actively involved in reform processes across the western regions of Georgia.
