UNFCCC Admitted Organization
RICDOG has been accredited as a UNFCCC observer organization.
Research-Intellectual Club “Dialogue of Generations” received observer accreditation to participate in the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change).
What is UNFCCC?
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is a global UN agreement to combat climate change that coordinates international action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
What is COP?
COP (Conference of the Parties) is an annual conference under the UNFCCC, where member countries (parties) meet to discuss global issues related to climate change, make decisions and determine future actions. COP is a platform for the coordination and development of international climate policy, including within the framework of the Paris Agreement.
What does observer status mean for RICDOG?
Observer status at the COP (Conference of the Parties) means that RICDOG is allowed to attend meetings, participate in discussions, and observe processes, but does not have the right to make decisions or vote, which are directly exercised by country representatives.
Monitoring organizations play an important role in ensuring transparency of processes, evaluating climate policy, and monitoring decisions.
Why did RICDOG receive observer accreditation?
RICDOG has been a member of the Climate Action Network (CAN) for many years in the Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia region. CAN is one of the important organizations involved in the negotiations of the Parties. Based on the experience gained in this network, RICDOG is actively involved in the fight against climate change at the regional and global levels.
What does observer status mean for RICDOG?
These high-level UN negotiations, which bring together an average of 30,000 participants, are held annually. Only representatives of UNFCCC member states or accredited organizations can participate. Until now, RICDOG has been involved in the conference with the help of various organizations. After accreditation, RICDOG representatives will be able to participate on behalf of the organization.
